Glee on amerikkalainen musikaalia, komediaa ja draamaa yhdistävä televisiosarja, jota esittää Yhdysvalloissa televisiokanava Fox ja Suomessa Sub. Se keskittyy glee-kerhoon Uudet Tuulet (engl. New Directions) kuvitteellisessa William McKinley High Schoolissa Limassa, Ohiossa. Sarjan loivat Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk ja Ian Brennan, ja se sisältää useita sarjan hahmojen laulamia coverversioita kappaleista ruudulla laulettuina. Murphy on vastuussa valitsemaan kaikki sarjassa käytettävät kappaleet, ja pyrkii pitämään tasapainon näytelmäsävellysten ja listahittien välillä, kuten hän haluaa siellä olevan ”jokaiselle jotakin, jokaisessa jaksossa”. Kun Murphy valitsee kappaleen, sen oikeudet selvitetään kappaleen julkaisijalta musiikkitarkastaja P. J. Bloomin kautta, kun musiikkituottaja Adam Anders järjestää sen uudelleen Gleen näyttelijöille esitettäväksi. Ohjelmanumerot on äänitetty studiossa näyttelijöiden laulamina ennen niiden kuvaamista, kun taas koreografi Zach Woodlee rakentaa mukana olevat tanssiliikkeet, jotka sitten opetetaan näyttelijöille, minkä jälkeen kuvataan. Studiossa äänitetyt versiot kappaleista on sitten tehty. Prosessi alkaa kuudesta kahdeksaan viikkoa ennen jokaisen jakson kuvauksia ja voi loppua vasta päivää ennen kuvausten alkua. Sarjan ensimmäisen tuotantokauden ensimmäiset kolmetoista jaksoa sisälsivät keskimäärin viisi kappaletta jaksoa kohden. Viimeiset yhdeksän jaksoa kasvoivat esitysmäärältään kahdeksaan. Toisella tuotantokaudella Glee sisälsi keskimäärin kuusi kappaletta jaksoa kohden. Murphy sanoi kesäkuussa 2011, että kolmannella tuotantokaudella ”luulen, että päädymme lopulta tekemään neljä” kappaletta jaksoa kohden.
