News of the World on syksyllä 1977 julkaistu Queenin kuudes albumi. Se äänitettiin Lontoossa heinä- ja syyskuun aikana vuonna 1977, ja julkaistiin 28. lokakuuta samana vuonna. Kuten News of the Worldin edeltäjä, A Day at the Races, albumi oli Queenin jäsenten itsensä tuottama. ^[1]

News of the World myi Yhdysvalloissa nelinkertaista platinaa.^[3] Lisäksi se nousi listojen kärkeen Ranskassa, Alankomaissa ja Portugalissa.

Albumin kansikuva on tieteistarinoiden kuvittajana tunnetun Frank Kelly Freasin maalaama. Queen esitti Freasille pyynnön maalata kannen kuvitus perustuen Freasin aiempaan työhön The Gulf Between, joka puolestaan on kansikuva Astounding Science Fiction -lehden numerossa 11/1953. ^[4]
