NHL-kausi 1939–1940
NHL-kausi 1939–1940 oli National Hockey Leaguen historian 23. kausi. Sen aikana seitsemän joukkuetta pelasi kukin 48 runkosarjaottelua.[1][2] Stanley Cupin voitti Frank Boucherin valmentama New York Rangers, joka kukisti finaalisarjassa Toronto Maple Leafsin otteluvoitoin 4–2. Tämä oli seuran historian kolmas Stanley Cup -mestaruus.[3][4]
Runkosarjan piste- ja syöttöpörssin voitti Boston Bruinsin Milt Schmidt.[1] Pelaamissaan 48 ottelussa Schmidt keräsi yhteensä 52 tehopistettä, joista 22 oli maaleja ja 30 syöttöpisteitä.[5] Maalitilaston ykkönen oli puolestaan New York Rangersia edustanut Bryan Hextall 24 osumallaan.[1] Arvokkaimmalle pelaajalle myönnettävän Hart Trophyn sai Detroit Red Wingsin puolustaja Ebbie Goodfellow.[6][7]
Pudotuspelien pistepörssin voitti Phil Watson. Hän teki 12 pudotuspeliottelussa 9 tehopistettä, joista 3 oli maaleja ja 6 maaliin johtaneita syöttöjä.[8] Parhaalle tulokkaalle annettavan Calder Trophyn sai Watsonin tavoin New York Rangersissa pelannut Kilby MacDonald.[9] Hän keräsi kauden aikana 28 tehopistettä, joista 15 oli maaleja ja 13 syöttöpisteitä.[1]
