Eleonore Stump

Eleonore Stump (s. 1947) on yhdysvaltalainen tutkija. Hän toimii filosofian professorina St. Louisin yliopistossa. Stumpin pätevyysalueita ovat keskiajan filosofia, uskonnonfilosofia ja metafysiikka. Stump on toiminut puheenjohtajana Amerikan filosofisen yhdistyksen keskusjaostossa sekä yhdistyksessä nimeltä The Society of Christian Philosophers.

Stump on käsitellyt kärsimyksen ongelmaa erityisesti teoksessaan Wandering in the Darkness sekä luennossa Job - The Problem of evil [1]. Stumpin mielestä kärsimyksen ongelmaan löytyy ratkaisu omaksumalla niin sanottu toisen persoonan näkökulma. Job saa kärsimyksen ongelmaan vastauksen pääsemällä kokemukselliseen kosketuksiin sen kanssa, että Jumala suhtautuu luomiinsa olentoihin huolehtivalla rakkaudella.
