Images and Words on progressiivisen metalliyhtyeen Dream Theaterin toinen albumi ja ensimmäinen, jolla esiintyy laulaja James LaBrie. Albumia pidetään yleisesti yhtenä tärkeimmistä albumeista progressiivisen metallin historiassa ja sitä pidetään myös Dream Theaterin läpimurtoabumina. Kappale ”Pull Me Under” sai runsaasti soittoaikaa radiokanavilla ja MTV:llä.
”Metropolis Pt. 1: Miracle and The Sleeper” -kappaleen nimi oli alun perin vitsi; toista osaa ei aioittu edes tehdä.[1] Toistuvien pyyntöjen jälkeen julkaistiin Metropolis Pt. 2, joka oli kuitenkin yksittäisen kappaleen sijaan kokonainen albumi.
