When Dream and Day Unite on Dream Theaterin ensimmäinen studioalbumi. Se äänitettiin vuonna 1988 ja julkaistiin 6. maaliskuuta 1989. Levy jäi Dream Theaterin ainoaksi, jolla lauloi Charlie Dominici. Soundit ovat melko erilaiset muuhun Dream Theaterin tuotantoon verraten.
When Dream and Day Unite julkaistiin Mechanic Records -levymerkillä. Albumin tuottivat Terry Date ja Dream Theaterin jäsenet.
Kriitikot sanoivat albumin olevan hyvin Rush-painoitteista. Charlie Dominicin äänellä oli varmasti paljon tekemistä asian kanssa.
