Mark Galeotti on professori ja tietokirjailija. Häntä pidetään yhtenä maailman arvostetuimmista Venäjän-tutkijoista.[1] Hänen tutkimuskohteitaan ovat nyky-Venäjä, turvallisuus ja kansainvälinen järjestäytynyt rikollisuus[2][3].
Vuonna 1987 Galeotti valmistui maisteriksi historiasta Cambridgen yliopiston Robinson Collegesta[4] ja vuonna 1991 valtiotieteen tohtoriksi LSE:stä[4][5]. Hänen väitöskirjansa käsitteli Afganistanin sodan vaikutusta Neuvostoliiton ja Venäjän politiikkaan ja yhteiskuntaan[4][5].
Galeotti on toiminut professorina New Yorkin yliopistossa ja Kaarlen yliopistossa[4]. Hän on Mayak Intelligence -ajatushautomon johtaja ja UCL:n kunniaprofessori[1]. Hän on toiminut myös HeroQuest-lehden päätoimittajana[6].
