Herman Dooyeweerd.

Herman Dooyeweerd (7. lokakuuta 1894 Amsterdam - 12. helmikuuta 1977 Amsterdam) oli alankomaalainen kristitty filosofi, joka loi uuden filosofisen lähestymistavan nimeltä kosmonominen filosofia. Hän toimi oikeusfilosofian professorina Amsterdamin vapaassa yliopistossa.

Kosmonomisen filosofian perusidea

Dooyeweerd oli yksi viime vuosisadan omaperäisimmistä filosofeista. Dooyeweerd on teoksissaan De Wijsbegeerte der Wetsidee (1935–1936) ja sen englanninkielisessä laitoksessa A New Critique of Theoretical Thought I - IV (1954–56) pyrkinyt osoittamaan, että tieteellinen ajattelu kaikkein täsmällisimmissäkin muodoissaan edellyttää aina ideaa maailmankaikkeuden alkuperästä, sen kokonaismerkityksestä ja sen perimmäisestä yhteydestä. Näitä kokonaisvaltaisia ideoita ei ole mahdollista saavuttaa tieteellisen tutkimuksen avulla, vaan ne ovat tieteellisen tutkimuksen edellytyksiä.

Dooyeweerdin lähtökohtana on ajatus, että Jumalan luoma maailmankaikkeus on lainalaisuuksien hallitsema. Tästä nimi kosmonominen filosofia. Dooyeweerd oletti, että maailmankaikkeuden lainalaisuudet jakautuvat 15 redusoimattomaan aspektiin: numeerinen (lukumäärä), spatiaalinen (tila), kinemaattinen (liike), fysikaalinen (energia), biologinen (elämä), psyykkinen (havainto, tunne), historiallinen (valta), looginen, kielellinen, sosiaalinen, esteettinen, moraalinen, juridinen ja pistinen (uskon) alue.
