Sweetheart of the Rodeo on The Byrdsin elokuussa 1968 julkaistu kuudes studioalbumi. Sitä pidetään hyvin merkittävänä, sillä levyn katsotaan nostaneen pinnalle country rock -genren ja tuottaneen synnyn muun muassa The Flying Burrito Brothersin ja Eaglesin kaltaisille yhtyeille.[2] Albumi pääsi myös vuonna 2006 julkaistuun kirjaan 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. (suom. 1001 albumia, jotka sinun on kuultava ennen kuin kuolet.) Levyn kappaleista valtaosa on covereita vanhoista country-lauluista.
Albumi jäi Gram Parsonsin ainoaksi Byrdsin riveissä tämän kieltäydyttyä esiintymästä Etelä-Afrikassa poliittisista syistä.[2] Myös basisti Chris Hillman erosi yhtyeestä ja liittyi Parsonsin perustamaan The Flying Burrito Brothersiin.
Vaikka Sweetheart of the Rodeo on saavuttanut myöhemmin suurta arvostusta, ilmestyessään sen kaupallinen menestys oli heikkoa. Albumi oli Yhdysvaltain Billboard-listalla korkeimmillaan sijalla 77 ja Britanniassa levy ei noussut Top 40 -listalle.[3]
