Lawrence Monsanto Ferlinghetti (24. maaliskuuta 1919 Yonkers, New York, Yhdysvallat22. helmikuuta 2021 San Francisco, Yhdysvallat)[1] oli yhdysvaltalainen runoilija ja beat-sukupolven edustaja.[2]

Ferlinghettin isä kuoli ennen hänen syntymäänsä ja äiti joutui mielisairaalaan Ferlinghettin ollessa lapsi, minkä vuoksi Ferlinghetti vietti suuren osan lapsuudestaan sukulaisensa luona Ranskassa. Myöhemmin hän muutti Long Islandille New Yorkiin. Toisessa maailmansodassa hän palveli laivastossa. Ferlinghetti suoritti kandidaatin tutkinnon Pohjois-Carolinan yliopistossa ja valmistui maisteriksi Columbian yliopistosta. Vuonna 1951 hän väitteli Sorbonnessa.[2]

Ferlinghetti asettui 1951 San Franciscoon.[2] Hän perusti 1953 City Lights -kirjakaupan ja -kustantamon. Vuonna 1956 City Lights julkaisi Allen Ginsbergin teoksen Howl and Other Poems ja joutui oikeuteen syytettynä säädyttömyydestä. Ferlinghetti ja Ginsberg kuitenkin voittivat jutun, mitä pidetään yhdysvaltalaisen sananvapauden kannalta merkittävänä ratkaisuna.[3] Kustantamo julkaisi myös Jack Kerouacia, Gregory Corsoa, Denise Levertovia, William S. Burroughsia, William Carlos Williamsia ja ulkomaisia kirjailijoita.[2]

Yleisölle avoin Ferlinghettin satavuotisjuhla järjestettiin City Lights -kirjakaupassa 24. maaliskuuta 2019.[4]
