Maurice Kottelat
Maurice Kottelat (s. 1957 Delémont, Sveitsi[1]) on sveitsiläinen Euraasian makean veden kaloihin erikoistunut iktyologi.
Kottelat suoritti vuonna 1987 luonnontieteiden kandidaatin tutkinnon Neuchâtelin yliopistossa ja vuonna 1989 tohtorintutkinnon Amsterdamin yliopistossa. Vuonna 1980 hän hän aloitti Thaimaassa kenttätutkimuksensa Itä-Aasian ja Indonesian makean veden kaloista. Vuonna 1997 hän laati tärkeän katsauksen siikojen suvusta (Coregonus). Yhdessä Tan Heok Huin kanssa hän työskenteli Sumatrassa, missä he mm. löysivät yhtenä maailman pienimmistä kalalajeista pidetyn Paedocypris progenetica -lajin. Vuonna 2007 Kottelat julkaisi Euroopan sisävesikalaston kattavan Handbook of European Freshwater Fishes -teoksen yhdessä Jörg Freyhofin kanssa. Kottelat oli jo vuoteen 2006 mennessä kuvaillut yli 440 tieteelle uutta kalalajia[2].
Vuonna 2006 Kottelat sai Neuchâtelin yliopiston kunniatohtorin arvon.[1] Kottelat on ollut European Ichthyological Societyn presidentti (1997–2007, 2012-) ja International Commission on Zoological Nomenclaturen komissaari (2006-).[1] Kottelatilla ei ole enimmällä osalla urastaan ollut akateemista virkaa, vaan hän on työskennellyt freelance-taksonomina.
