Benedict ”Ben” Richard Pierce Macintyre (s. 25. joulukuuta 1963) on brittiläinen kirjailija, historioitsija ja The Times -sanomalehden kolumnisti.

Lapsuus ja nuoruus

Macintyre on Angus Donald Macintyren ja Joanna Macintyren (o.s. Harvey) kolmesta lapsesta toinen. Macintyre opiskeli sisäoppilaitos Abingdon Schoolissa, jonka jälkeen hän aloitti historian opinnot St John’s Collegessa Cambridgessa, josta hän valmistui vuonna 1985.

Kirjat

Macintyre on kirjoittanut kirjan herrasmiesrikollisesta Adam Worthista. (The Napoleon of Crime: The Life and Times of Adam Worthin, Master Thief). Hän kirjoitti kirjan myös Josiah Harlanista (The Man Who would Be King: The First American in Afghanistan). Tämä julkaistiin myös nimellä Josiah the Great: The True Story of the Man who Would be King. Harlan on yksi ehdokkaista, jonka oletetaan olevan pohjana Rudyard Kiplingin novelille The Man Who Would Be King.

Hänen kirjansa Eddie Chapmanista, Saksan ja Britannian kaksoisagentista toisen maailmansodan aikana, oli nimeltään Agent Zigzag: The True Wartime Story of Eddie Chapman: Lover, Betrayer, Hero, Spy.

Vuonna 2008 Macintyre kirjoitti kuvitetun kertomuksen Ian Flemingistä, fiktiivisen vakooja James Bondin luojasta, liittyen For Your Eyes Only, Ian Fleming ja James Bond -näyttelyyn Lontoon Imperial War Museumissa.

Macintyren vuoden 2020 elämäkertakirja neuvostoliittolaisesta agentista Ursula Kuczynskistä, Agent Sonya: Moscow’s Most Daring Wartime Spy, esiteltiin BBC Radio 4:ssä viikon kirjana.
