Pre-History: Lost Steeltown Recordings on The Jackson 5 -yhtyeen vuonna 1996 julkaistu kokoelma-albumi, joka sisältää yhtyeen ensimmäisiä äänittämiä kappaleita, jotka yhtye äänitti marraskuun 1967 ja tammikuu 1968 välisenä aikana paikallisen levy-yhtiön Steeltown Recordsin alaisena, ennen kuin yhtye siirtyi Motown Recordsille vuonna 1968. Yhtyeen ensimmäinen single oli 30. tammikuuta 1968 julkaistu "Big Boy", jota myytiin 10 000 kappaletta. Yhtye julkaisi vielä samana vuonna singlen "We Don't Have to Be Over 21 (To Fall in Love)", jonka jälkeen yhtye siirtyi Motownille. Yhtye ei julkaissut studioalbumia ollessaan Steeltownilla. Loput kappaleet pysyivät ennen julkaisemattomina vuoteen 1996 asti kunnes Brunswick Records julkaisi ne remasteroituina. Kappaleita on julkaistu uudelleen useasti muiden kokoelma-albumeiden myötä. Vuonna 2009 Michael Jacksonin kuoleman johdosta Charly Records julkaisi kokoelma-albumin, joka käsitti yhtyeen 12 Steeltownin alaisuudessa äänittämää kappaletta uudelleen remasteroituina.
