Avon-luokka oli Britannian kuninkaallisen laivaston viiden torpedovenehävittäjän muodostama alusluokka. Alukset valmisti Naval Construction and Armament Company Barrow-in-Furnessista. Yhtiön nimi vaihtui Vickersiksi ennen alusten valmistumista. Luokan alukset liitettiin lokakuussa 1913 kolmisavuhormisista yli 30 solmun nopeuden omaavista muodostettuun C-luokkaan.
Alukset
[muokkaa | muokkaa wikitekstiä]Kolme ensimmäistä alusta kuuluivat vuosien 1895-1896 laivasto-ohjelmaan[1]. HMS Leopard tilattiin saman vuoden laivasto-ohjelmassa, mutta se poikkesi edeltäneistä hieman pienemmän uppoumansa vuoksi, joka oli 350 tonnia standardiuppoumana ja 400 tonnia kuormattuna[2]. Neljäs HMS Vixen kuului vuoden 1899 laivasto-ohjelmaan ja se oli uppoumaltaan suurempi ollen 400 tonnia standardiuppoumana ja 445 tonnia kuormattuna[3].
