Enteogeeni

Myrkkykaktus on enteogeeninen kasvi.

Enteogeeni (engl. entheogen), sanatarkassa muodossaan, tarkoittaa psykoaktiivista ainetta (useimmiten kasvien psykedeelisiä ja dissosiatiivisia vaikutuksia omaavat alkaloidit), joka nautittuna aiheuttaa valaisevan hengellisen ja mystisen kokemuksen. Laajemmassa käsityksessään sana "enteogeeni" viittaa niin synteettisiin kuin luonnollisiin kemiallisiin yhdisteisiin, jotka aiheuttavat ihmisessä muuntuneen tajunnantilan (kuten transsin), joka muistuttaa perinteisten enteogeenien, kuten Ayahuascan ja psilosybiinisienten avulla saavutettuja hengellisiä kokemuksia, joita esimerkiksi šamaanit hyödyntävät työssään.
