M/S Explorer of the Seas on Royal Caribbean International -varustamon Suomessa 2000 valmistunut risteilyalus.
Rakentaminen
[muokkaa | muokkaa wikitekstiä]Alus tilattiin 20. maaliskuuta 1997[2] Kvaerner Masa Yardsin Turun telakalta. Sen köli laskettiin 12. tammikuuta 1999[3] telakkanumerolla 1345 ja alus laskettiin vesille 4. marraskuuta 1999. Alus luovutettiin 29. syyskuuta 2000 bahamalaiselle Explorer of the Seas Inc:lle, ja aluksen operoinnista vastaa Royal Caribbean Cruises.[4]
Käyttöhistoria
[muokkaa | muokkaa wikitekstiä]Alus lähti 2. lokakuuta 2000 Turusta New Yorkiin, jossa se kastettiin 21. lokakuuta. Alus aloitti 28. lokakuuta risteilyt Miamista Karibialle.[4]
Alus törmäsi 14. syyskuuta 2012 Norwegian Starin kanssa kovassa merenkäynnissä Bermudan satamassa.[4]
