Afrikaans: Die helder kol in die wit omlyning en vergroting is die optiese nagloed van die gammastraalblits GRB-990123. Reg boaan is die gekromde filamente van die voortbrengende sterrestelsel sigbaar, wat blykbaar deur 'n botsing met 'n ander sterrestelsel ontwrig is. Die beeld is verkry deur die Hubble-ruimteteleskoop se aftastingspektrograaf (STIS).
Deutsch: Optisches Nachleuchten des Gammablitzes GRB-990123 (heller Punkt im weißen Quadrat und Ausschnittsvergrößerung). Das darüberliegende gekrümmte Objekt ist die Galaxie aus der er stammt. Sie ist wohl durch eine Kollision mit einer anderen Galaxie unregelmäßig verformt worden. Das Bild wurde mit dem Hubble-Weltraumteleskop aufgenommen.
English: Optical afterglow of gamma ray burst GRB-990123 (the bright dot within the white square and in the enlarged cutout) on 8-9 February 1999. The object above it with the finger-like filaments is its originating galaxy. This galaxy seems to be distorted by a collision with another galaxy. This image was taken with the NASA Hubble Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS).
Español: Luminiscencia óptica del brote de rayos gamma GRB-990123 (el punto brillante en el centro del cuadro a la izquierda y en el recorte ampliado a la derecha) ocurrida entre el 8 y el 9 de febrero de 1999. La parte superior del objeto —con los filamentos en forma de dedo— es la galaxia de origen y esta última parece estar distorsionada por una colisión con otra galaxia. Français : Rémanence optique du sursaut gamma GRB-990123 (le point brillant au milieu du carré de droite), le 8-9 février 1999. L'objet au-dessus avec les filaments en forme de doigt est sa galaxie d'origine. Cette galaxie semble être déformée par une collision avec une autre galaxie. Cette image a été prise avec le spectrographe imageur du Hubble (télescope spatial) de la NASA.
Italiano: Bagliore residuo del lampo gamma GRB-990123 (il punto luminoso all'interno del quadrato bianco e nel ritaglio allargato) tra l'8-9 Febbraio 1999. L'oggetto sopra di esso con filamenti digitiformi è la galassia da cui si origina. Tale galassia sembra essere distorta da una collisione con un'altra galassia.
