Poster vs still

[muokkaa wikitekstiä]
Ain't he amazing ?

@Peplumfani: further to this, could you please clarify why the low res poster which is not free should be considered better than a public domain high res still which is used by Fondation Seydoux, Domitor, the Australian Cinematheque, and even the Finnish National Audiovisual Institute to present the film [1] [2] [3] [4] ? It does not make sense to me to give precedence to a not so special caricature over this wonderful still of Febo Mari dressed in his Fauna costume. You have reverted three of my edits on the basis of your preference for photos against films, to which I yielded, and now you pull from you sleeve a preference for posters against photos. Could it be you wish to privilege your own uploads at the expense of the project ? I would very much appreciate it if you would have the kindness to answer in English, since you contribute in English to Commons.
@Pxos: see also this please.

@Peplumfani: on closer examination, I realize you did not merely replace the still with the poster, you also deleted the film. Why ? — Racconish ✉ 9. huhtikuuta 2018 kello 00.32 (EEST)[vastaa]

--Peplumfani (keskustelu) 9. huhtikuuta 2018 kello 08.23 (EEST)[vastaa]
@Peplumfani: as a member of English silent films task force I can tell you this is simply not true: we use on the English Wikipedia the most informative visual document in the infobox ; posters, particularly text and drawings, are only a second choice, except if they are notorious. In any case, all Wikipedia projects are independent as I am sure you know. By the way, the local rule WP:TKS says clearly that images under copyright may be used only if there is no available file at Commons (fair use). You cannot argue the copyrighted poster is licit under fair use when you have 2 free available images to illustrate the article, the film itself and the famous still above. — Racconish ✉ 9. huhtikuuta 2018 kello 09.18 (EEST)[vastaa]
