Unfortunately I do not speak Finnish so that I do not understand this article, but it seems for me that its title ”ratapiha” in relation to the wikilinks into the German, French, Italian, Dutch, Romanian and Spanish articles is wrong because probably here is described only what is called in English: (railroad/railway) yard, in Dutch: emplacement or in Polish: stacja and not hump/marshalling/classification yards (Dutch: rangeerterrein, Polish: stacja rozrządowa ) themselves which are described in the other wikilinks and which as far as I know in Finnish are called järjestelyratapiha (I invite you to have a look into my international hump yard-related dictionary in the German Wiktionary: [1]). The technical terms to railway stations, yards and terminals often are difficult to distinguish in various languages because otherwise then in Finnish in various languages such e. g. in German, French or Italian there is no distinction between at one time in English and Dutch: "station" or in Polish: "dworzec"; and "yard" (English), "emplacement" (Dutch) or "stacja" (Polish): these three all mean in German, French and Italian only: "Bahnhof", "gare" resp. "stazione".

Thus I ask you please to excuse to have written that in English, and to check the complete terminology and eventually to correct the title or the contents of this article so that it correspondents to each wikilink in other languages and nobody who clicks from the article on hump yards in the German, French, Italian, Dutch, Romanian or Spanish Wikipedia into this Finnish article hoping to find informations on hump yards without success because the article describes only generally a (railroad/railway) yard including passenger coach, freight or intermodal yards. Michael, Germany.

Hello there. This article (Ratapiha) has the description of the railway yards in general, as well as short descriptions of following:
  • single-track meeting/passing siding
  • junction (station and simple junction switch)
  • freight yard, and its sub-sections:
    • arrival yard
    • classification yard
    • hump yard
    • (un)loading yard
    • departure yard

The article is not complete, and in the future the subsections of a freight yard are supposed to have their separate articles. --TeVe 24. maaliskuuta 2006 kello 20.19 (UTC)
