English: This patient presented with facial tetany. Note the contraction of the masseter and neck muscles. Tetanus is induced by an exotoxin of the tetanus bacillus (Clostridium tetani), which grows anaerobically at site of injury. Tetanus is characterized by painful muscular contractions, primarily of the masseter, and other large muscles.
Deutsch: Krämpfe der Gesichts- (Risus sardonicus) und Nackenmuskulatur , hervorgerufen durch das Toxin der Clostridium tetani, Tetanospasmin (Tetanus).
Español: El paciente de la fotografía presenta tétanos facial. Destaca la contracción de los músculos del maxilar y el cuello. El tétanos es provocado por una exotoxina del bacilo tetánico (Clostridium tetani), que crece en una herida, por lo general a nivel cutáneo. El tétanos se caracteriza por una dolorosa contracción del tejido muscular, principalmente en el maxilar y otros músculos de considerable tamaño.
