Alistair Horne

Alistair Horne (9. marraskuuta 1925 – 25. toukokuuta 2017) oli englantilainen historioitsija, joka kirjoitti erityisesti sotahistoriasta ja Ranskan historiasta.

Horne palveli toisen maailmansodan aikana Englannin kuninkaallisissa ilmavoimissa ja oli sodan jälkeen muutaman vuoden Coldstream Guards -rykmentissä upseerina. Hän suoritti Master of Arts -tutkinnon Cambridgen yliopiston Jesus Collegessa ja vuonna 1993 hän sai Cambridgen yliopiston kirjallisuuden tohtorin (Doctor of Letters) arvon.

Horne julkaisi teoksia Verdunin taistelusta (The Price of Glory: Verdun 1916), Pariisin kommuunista (The Fall of Paris: The Siege and the Commune, 1870–1), Ranskan vuonna 1940 kärsimästä tappiosta (To Lose a Battle: France 1940) sekä Algerian sodasta (A Savage War of Peace: Algeria 1954–1962). Hän kirjoitti elämäkerran myös Englannin pääministeri Harold Macmillanista ja kuvauksen vuoden 1973 tapahtumista silloisen Yhdysvaltain ulkoministerin Henry Kissingerin elämässä.

Hornen tuotannosta on suomennettu ainoastaan Verdunin taistelusta kertova The Price of Glory: Verdun 1916.
