Brave New World on Iron Maidenin kahdestoista albumi ja samalla ensimmäinen albumi 2000-luvulla. Albumilla yhtyeen entinen laulaja Bruce Dickinson ja entinen kitaristi Adrian Smith palasivat yhtyeeseen, ja edellinen laulaja Blaze Bayley sai väistyä. Näin Maidenin levyllä esiintyy ensimmäistä kertaa kolme kitaristia. Tämä tarkoitti myös sitä, että Iron Maidenin jäsenmäärä kasvoi kuuteen. Levyn kappaleista The Wicker Man ja Out of the Silent Planet julkaistiin singleinä. Albumin kuvituksesta vastannut Derek Riggs ilmoitti lopettavansa Maidenille piirtämisen, johtuen kannen kuvituksen eriävistä mielipiteistä bändin kanssa. Kansi on kuitenkin joidenkin fanien mielestä poikkeuksellisen hieno.
