From what Pietri, Cavour, andstill higher authorities, told Louis Kossuth of theconference, it resulted in an offer of the Emperorto give Savoy armed assistance to rid Italy of theAustrians ; but his Majesty reserved to himself theright of fixing the time for beginning the war. Mean-time Savoy was to foster politic agitation in Italy, wasto prevent all revolutionary outbreaks, and refrainfrom provoking Austria overmuch. * A united Italy
