The Battle Hymn of the Republic on amerikkalainen patrioottinen laulu, joka tuli tunnetuksi Yhdysvaltain sisällissodan aikana. Sanat siihen on kirjoittanut Julia Ward Howe. Howe ja hänen mukaan matkustanut pappi kuulivat pohjoisvaltioiden sotilaiden laulavan laulua nimeltä John Brown's Body, joka oli todella suosittu sotilaiden keskuudessa. Howen mukana matkustanut pappi pahastui kuulleessaan laulun sanat ja kertoman mukaan pyysi Howea kirjoittamaan laululle uudet ja sopveliaammat sanat.[1][2]

Alun perin se oli kuitenkin hengellinen laulu, jota kutsuttiin nimellä "Canaan's Happy Shore" tai "Brothers, Will You Meet Me?". Laulun sävelsi ja sanoitti eteläcarolinalainen William Steffe. Sittemmin sävelmä levisi ympäri Yhdysvaltoja ja siihen sanoitettiin lukuisia eri sanoituksia.

Työväenliike ja Yhdysvaltain vasemmisto on käyttänyt samaa sävelmää suositussa laulussa "Solidarity forever". Suomeksi laulun sävelellä lauletaan marssilaulua "Kalle Kustaan muori" ja lastenlaulua "Pikku-Matin autosta on kumi puhjennut".
