The Essential Michael Jackson on Michael Jacksonin vuonna 2005 julkaistu kokoelma-albumi, joka käsittää Jacksonin ja The Jackson 5 -yhtyeen hittejä vuodesta 1969 vuoteen 2001. Albumi julkaistiin Yhdysvalloissa 19. heinäkuuta 2005 ja päivää aikaisemmin Yhdistyneessä kuningaskunnassa. 26. elokuuta 2008 Yhdysvalloissa julkaistiin rajoitetun erän The Essential Michael Jackson 3.0, joka sisälsi ylimääräisen kolmannen levyn, joka sisälsi seitsemän Jacksonin kappaletta. Albumi oli tarkoitus julkaista uudelleen Yhdistyneessä kuningaskunnassa 6. heinäkuuta 2009 nimellä The Hits, mutta se peruutettiin Jacksonin kuoleman johdosta.

Vuonna 2009 albumille myönnettiin Yhdysvalloissa 2 x platinaa. Tähän mennessä albumia on myyty maailmanlaajuisesti yli 7 miljoonaa kappaletta, mikä tekee siitä menestyneimmän albumin Sonyn "The Essential" linjassa.
