Valmistus

Pääartikkeli: River-luokka (hävittäjä, 1903)

Alus tilattiin Hawthorn Leslie and Companyltä Hebburnistä Newcastle upon Tynestä osana vuosien 1902-1903 laivasto-ohjelmaa. Sen köli laskettiin 20. lokakuuta 1902 ja alus laskettiin vesille 16. maaliskuuta 1903. Alus valmistui kesäkuussa 1904.

Palvelus

HMS Waveney myytiin 10. helmikuuta 1920 romutettavaksi.
