Down on the Upside on Soundgardenin vuonna 1996 julkaisema viides studioalbumi. Albumi julkaistiin 21. toukokuuta 1996. Down on the Upside nousi ilmestyttyään Billboardin sijalle 2.

Albumista julkaistiin myös rajoitettu erä, jonka mukana oli Into the Upside -haastattelu-cd.

Albumilta nousi neljä hittiä: "Pretty Noose", "Ty Cobb", "Blow Up the Outside World" ja "Burden in My Hand". Kappale "Pretty Noose" sai myös Grammy-ehdokkuuden.

Kitaristi Kim Thayil ei pitänyt albumin lopputuloksesta.
